Creating a list of the “best” Pokémon cards is a little difficult as the basis for such a measurement differs from person to person. A collector may look for rare cards. A player may look for cards with special powers like extra damage or HP. Despite this difficulty, after careful consideration, here’s the list of some awesome Pokémon cards which you should definitely check out:

1. Charizard EX XY Black Star

Charizard is one of the most beloved Pokémon among players. Charizard is known to breathe fire and is capable of flying. This version of the Pokémon has an HP of 180 and two active moves- Stoke and Fire Blast.

The first move called Stoke requires only 1 colourless energy card to play. If you get “heads”, you get to take 3 basic energy cards from the deck and attach them to your Charizard. Isn’t that awesome?

The second move called Fire Blast is the main attacking move. This move causes damage up to 120. After using this move, you have to discard one energy card from this Pokémon. To use Fire Blast, you should have 3 colourless energy cards and one fire energy card.

2. Mega Venusar EX

Venusaur is a grass/poison type Pokémon with a large flower on it’s back. The flower is said to take on vivid colours if it gets enough nutrition and sunlight. Mega Vensaur EX has 230 HP and only one attack move.

The attack move is called Crisis Vine which only requires three-leaf energy cards and one colourless energy card. It deals a damage of 120. Also, this move leaves the opponent’s Pokémon paralyzed and poisoned.

3. Shadow Lugia

Shadow Lugia is a Lugia which was corrupted by the criminal organization Cipher, it’s considered to be the ultimate Shadow Pokémon and is completely immune to purification. Shadow Lugia looks completely different from its original form.

Shadow Lugia has an absurd damage points of 1000. It’s Shadow Storm move, may require using four psychic energy cards but once it has that, it’s kind of unstoppable. This Pokémon also has a very high HP of 300 making it one of the strongest Pokémon cards.

4. Rayquaza C LV. X

Rayquaza is said to have lived for hundreds of millions of years. Rayquaza C Lv X is one of the top Pokémon cards and has an HP of 120.

This legendary Pokémon can use a Dragon Spirit move which lets you take an energy card from the discard pile and attach it to itself. But this move can only be applied when the pokemon is attacked and not knocked out. So, when it’s your active pokemon you can easily stock up on energy cards without wasting several turns.

Final Blow-up is a really powerful attack of this version of Rayquaza. It deals 200 damage points. However, you’ll have to discard all your energy cards after using this attack, unless you have no cards in your hands. So, this attack should be used wisely!

5. Solgaleo GX

Solgaleo GX evolves from Cosmoem and has a HP of 250. This Pokémon has an ability called Shining Mane which negates the weaknesses of all your Pokémon and prevents them from suffering double damage.

Turbo Strike is an attack that deals 120 damage points along with attaching two energy cards from your discard pile to a benched ally.

6. Shining Mew

Mew is said to possess the genetic composition of all Pokémon. It is the unevolved version of Mewtwo. This Mew is called “shining” because of its colour. The original Mew is purple, but this one is blue.

Mimicry is one move of Shining Mew. It can be used to mimic an attack from the opponent’s Pokémon. However, this move doesn’t work if you don’t have the energy cards required for the particular attack.

Another move of Shining Mew is the Rainbow Wave. It requires attaching a water energy card and any basic energy card. The attack deals 20 damage points to every opponent Pokémon with the same energy type as the basic energy card attached. This damage is also dealt to benched Pokémon but resistance and weakness doesn’t apply for them.

7. Mega Blastoise EX

Mega Blastoise EX evolves from Blastoise EX and has an HP of 220. There is a mega evolution rule that is when one of your Pokémon becomes a Mega Evolution Pokémon, your turn ends.

It has a strong attack called Hydro Bombard which deals 120 damage points. It also does an additional 30 damage to 2 of your opponent’s benched Pokémon (no resistance and weakness applied). This move requires three water energy cards.

8. Arceus LV X

According to the legends of Sinnoh, this Pokémon emerged from an egg and shaped all there is in this world. Arceus LV X has an HP of 120. This Arceus can use the attacks of all the Arceus you have in play, as its own attack. Put this card onto your Active Arceus and it will use any attack, Poke-Power or Poke-Body from its previous level.

9. Ancient Mew

Lastly, this card is purely for collectors as it has been banned from competitive play. Ancient Mew is a promotional Pokémon card that was released in the year 2000 and has been unavailable since then. The text on the card is in some unreadable ancient language. The pure mystery and nostalgia of the card makes Ancient Mew one of the most iconic Pokémon cards that has ever released.

So, do you agree with this list? Or do you have your own list of best cards?
