Uses of Augmented reality in Education- The new way to your learning

New trends in the digital platform have made our traditional way of learning into a new world. Now everything is going digitized by some technology innovations. EdTech’s Augmented reality is now emerging as a powerful tool to the education field.  It is expected to reach one million users by 2020.

This Augmented reality has many opportunities and it will make education into a new one. Not only  the opportunity but also an equal challenge in implementation. In this article I am going to list the opportunities and challenges in Augmented Reality.

Opportunities in Augmented Reality

AR in education

It has many features to replace our traditional methods of learning. It has the power to replace the textbooks, physical models and it can be replaced with less expensive portable materials.

Augmented Reality in classroom

This augmented reality can be used in classrooms to add animation, 3D models and much of  fun facts to all your lessons and lectures to make learning fun.

By doing more attractive lessons students get attracted and make more concentration towards the lesson. This is not only for children but can be made for students with all age limits.

Crack your difficult lessons

With the use of this Augmented reality you can teach your students the most difficult topics. AR converts the topic into 3D models so that the students can make an easy understanding.

You can make this happen by directly installing the AR apps. You can find AR apps for any subjects including programmes.

Better interaction

Teachers and students can achieve better interaction with the use of this AR. Teachers can make interesting videos for your students to make them a better understanding.

Explore and learn more

Not only at schools or academies, Augmented reality can also be used at various places. Through this we can assign codes to historical places. If people scan that code they can access all the information about that particular thing.

The super advantage of this augmented reality is, anyone can use this with their mobile phones.

Challenges of AR in education

Adaptability

Some teachers may find it difficult to implement because of this application setting. Classroom requires some basic settings to install this AR.

The disadvantage is that some students may not have mobile phones that support AR applications. Augmented reality can provide, same content at all platforms but not on all devices. There might be some portable issues on the content.

How to get started?

Google and Apple industry made this possible to use. All we need is to implement some points to ensure the settings of AR.

  • Determine your audience or goal customer. Depending on age limits AR functions would vary.
  • Build POC to test the capabilities and an MVP to test the functionality.
  • Test the product you had selected. Always keep updated with the new AR content.

Here I listed some basic AR applications for quick reference.

For students

1. Elements 4D

An amazing application to study chemistry. It brings you, every chemical reaction alive. You can get a clear idea about reactions. Customizing tools are available to make it available for different age groups.

2. Corinth Micro Anatomy

It is available as a visual representation of human anatomy. Though it is structured with less content, it is highly specific. You can get a clear image about each organ and useful tips too.

3. AugThat

It was created by a former teacher to give motivational education to some slow learning students. It can provide 3D animation to your classroom.

4. Math Alive

It is a cool application for children up to 3rd grade. They will call in love with learning through this application.

Conclusion

Augmented reality drives education into a lovable one. So it is better to adapt to this technology than preparing through our traditional learning, because this gives more and more information and makes easy understanding of their lessons.
